What We Do

An all-volunteer team on call 24/7, 365 days a year for the eastern Lake District fells.

Support the team

How we respond

Around 90 callouts a year, in all weather, with an average of 27 minutes from the call to boots on the hill.

Search & rescue callouts

We turn out for walkers, climbers and runners in trouble across the eastern fells, day or night.

Casualty care

Our team carries and applies casualty care on the hill before evacuating people to safety.

Year-round readiness

Forty-two volunteers train relentlessly so the team is ready every single day of the year.

Who we help

There for whoever needs us

When someone is lost, injured or overdue on the fells, the call comes through and we go — no charge, no questions, whatever the hour or the weather.

We receive no statutory funding. Every rope, radio, stretcher and training hour is paid for by people who choose to keep this team on the hill.
